Any North/NE commuters out there with suggestions on improving this route? It seems a bit complex. I live off Far West, work in Tech Ridge. This route uses city of Austin bike routes. I'm comfortable in traffic, and would love to find a faster/more direct route, but the idea of dodging cap metro buses or huffing their fumes on Lamar or Burnet  doesn't really appeal to me.

Thanks for the link, Lane--that looks like a smart alternative to my first route, which would have had me riding/walking through at least four crosswalks to get across Research and Anderson. Now that I think about it, though, I don't *have* to catch the bus at the transit center. The 1L and 1M both go to Tech Ridge, and there's a stop at Lamar and Morrow. Google's satellite image of that intersection doesn't look too gnarly, so I may consider that as well.

Out of curiousity, any reason you picked Shoal Creek up to Foster rather than Great Northern? Is Shoal Creek a better ride? Thx.

I'm wanting to start a partial bike commute to work (ride from Far West Blvd. to N. Lamar Park & Ride, take bus to Tech Ridge), but when mapping out the route on Google, I saw that the North Lamar Transit Center does not look bike friendly. Anyone have any tips on navigating the quagmire that is the N. Lamar/Research Blvd./Anderson Lane intersection? Thanks in advance.
