Lake Boardwalk

Hey folks,

The Boardwalk meeting tomorrow night will be at the Parks Department instead of in City Hall.

It is important that cyclists turn out and speak in support of this project as a transportation facility.

The proposed boardwalk will run along the south shore of the lake from East Bouldin Creek to the existing parkland along Lakeshore Drive.  This long-planned boardwalk will close the loop for the trail around Lake Lady Bird, and it will provide cyclists in the apartments along East Riverside and the adjacent neighborhoods with a safe and efficient route to get to South Austin, Downtown, or the University.

However, the condo owners at either end of the project area don't want the boardwalk to be built in the lake in front of their properties.

Your support is needed to encourage the Parks Board members to approve the conceptual design and route for the project so that we can move to the next step of the design process and do the detailed work that will be necessary for permitting and final approvals.

Thanks,

Jeb

The Proposed Boardwalk Trail at Lady Bird Lake

New meeting Location (January 26, 2009)

Town Lake Trail Stakeholders:

Please note the Parks and Recreation Board meeting scheduled for tomorrow evening will not be at City Hall as previously planned.  Due to a problem in the posting the meeting must be in the Parks Board Room as follows:

    * January 27, 2009 -- Parks and Recreation Board, Parks & Recreation Department Board Room, 200 S. Lamar Blvd., at 6:00 p.m

The full Parks and Recreation Board is being asked to recommend approval of the concept plan; please see the posted agenda at http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/agenda/2009/ … 012709.pdf   This would allow the design team to move forward with detailed design for the project.
