New development on 360 will add 2,000 cars near Wild Basin Road.

All cyclists,

We have an uprecedented opportunity to impact a variance request going in front of ZAPCO next Tuesday. We are asking interested parties to join us by signing a petition at www.ipetitions.com/petition/munsonparkdev/ where you'll see a short paragraph on the issue at stake.

Any support in the endeavor is greatly appreciated and if you'd like to do more you can forward this email to all other cyclists who ride 360 and/or show up in person on Nov. 18 at City Hall, room 1001, in a burnt orange t-shirt (for solidarity).

Thanks!
Sharla

Ok, I've read your paragraph, but I still don't see why the variance needs to be opposed.

Since you've posted it to a cycling forum, I assume that the variance is somehow bad for cyclists.  Can you explain how?  (It's a serious question -- I looked up cut and fill and don't really see how it's `bad'.  Or is the problem that they want to put a road to 360 rather than Wild Basin.  How is that really bad?)

Thank you for the question. Our group thought that the addition of 2,000 cars on 360, turning onto and out of a new driveway, would pose a safety threat, if not a great inconvenience, to cyclists. We would propose that ZAPCO consider the implications and be prepared to consider adding a traffic light at Wild Basin to help prevent accidents. We simply hoped to get your support on this issue.
