New Cedar Park cycling infrastructure

A few years ago Cedar Park had a successful sidewalk gap closure project based on public feedback that we needed more ways to get around town.  Now we are working on cycling improvements with the following underway:

Brushy Creek Regional Trail connection
The city of Cedar Park has been in the process of adding missing parts of the Brushy Creek Regional Trail System. This project is taking place at  A Brushy Creek Lake Park, B Twin Lakes Park and C Little Elm Trail. The project is expected to be complete by late October, according to city spokesperson Jennie Huerta. While most of the sections are open to the public, the final section of Little Elm Trail west of Bell Boulevard should be open by mid-October while remaining cleanup takes place, according to Huerta.
Timeline: January-October

Bicycle Lane Phase 1A
Bicycle lanes are being expanded on four Cedar Park roads. The Bicycle Lane Phase 1A project adds 47,000 feet of bicycle lanes to existing pavement on  A Brushy Creek Road, B Little Elm Trail,  C New Hope Drive and  D Buttercup Creek Boulevard. Design of the bike lanes is complete, according to Huerta. The city is now evaluating contractor proposals.

Plus extensions to the awesome Brushy creek trail system:
Cedar Park City Council unanimously approved at its Nov. 7 meeting to enter into an agreement with architectural firm MWM DesignGroup Inc. to design the Brushy Creek North Fork Trail—which, when finished, will run 3 miles mostly along the north fork of Brushy Creek.

Once completed, the eight- to 10-foot-wide concrete, shared-use trail will wind southeast from the southeast corner of the intersection of Parmer Lane and Whitestone Boulevard. It will follow the north fork of Brushy Creek along the west bank before it connects to the Williamson County Brushy Creek Regional Trail system near Brushy Creek Road, according to Kimberly Reese with the city’s engineering department. … ober-2019/ … ork-trail/
