12:50am downtown -- that's deadly combination of time + place for drunk drivers.
I wondered how many Comments I'd have to read before I'd get to an anti-cycling comment. Turns out it was pretty quick, Comment #2:
"Cyclists think they own the road here. No respect for other traffic, stops signs, stop lights, etc."
Unlike the overflowing amount of respect shown by the drunk driver who caused the crash. Right.

And commenters complain that cyclists don't respect traffic laws. Where's the outrage against this driver (much less drivers in general who flout the law)?

Nice article from August about APD honoring the seven people who lifted the car off the pinned rider, likely saving her life: http://www.mystatesman.com/news/crime-- … bRnUIt9FM/
“This is an outstanding moment for us, and we’re looking forward to going upward and onward,” said McKibben’s father, Bob, who choked up as he spoke. “These people here, if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t have JoJo.”
JoJo McKibben applauded throughout the ceremony and shook each award recipient’s hand, but evidence of her injuries was still apparent. She remained seated and signs of the tracheotomy she needed to breathe was visible above the collar of her shirt. Her voice was never louder than a whisper.
Driver is Katie Bykowski; docket search shows her case is still in the early stages--not even indicted yet. Next court date 12/7.

The rider recovered enough to get back on her bike... and was injured in a hit-and-run last week!
Austin police said McKibben was struck by Richard Garcia's vehicle on the morning of April 3 at Lightsey Road and South Congress Avenue. Garcia was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid.
