Roman Nolasco jailed after hit & runs ped @ MLK/Walnut, 6/16

According to the arrest affidavit, a witness followed the suspect vehicle and saw it pull into a parking garage near a construction site not far from where the crash happened. In the parking garage, on the first-floor, police found a silver Nissan SUV with front-end damage. After speaking with the foreman of the construction site, police identified the driver as Nolasco. The foreman said Nolasco was a trim installer and was working on the project at the site.

When officers spoke with Nolasco, he said the bus was stopped in the outside lane and he was driving in the inside lane when the pedestrian stepped “out from the front of the bus.” The driver said he tried to brake and swerve but after he hit him, “he became scared and drove away” from the scene, continued in the affidavit.

The victim was taken to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.
