KVUE: Austin's Drinking Problem

"People in Austin drink more than other city in Texas, and not just by a little bit....It's a city reputation getting worse. According to city records, DWI arrests increased nearly 24 percent over the past three years, from 4,900 to more than 6,000 in 2013. During that time, 75 people died in drunk driving wrecks; 1,922 were injured....Alcohol consumption in Austin is up too. According to the state comptroller's office, Austin businesses rang up more than a half a billion dollars in alcohol sales last year, a 50 percent increase since 2008."

Re: KVUE: Austin's Drinking Problem

It all comes to money. The death of innocent people is just collateral damage. Keep pumping the booze, do a weak effort to enforce the laws, and keep the masses happy, drunk, and spending their money.
