Churchgoers ferried by golfcarts, and cholesterol drugs for kids

Was out with a group riding on Bee Caves Rd. and Cuernavaca/River Hills this morning.  Passing a church on Bee Caves Rd., I observed a golf cart in the parking lot shuttling members from their cars to the front door of the church -- about 250 yards if that.  Nice balmy weather.  6 riders on the golf car, all adolescent boys!  Meanwhile, an evil partnership of cardiologists -- whose "research" is funded by large pharmaceutical companies -- and the companies themselves are looking for new cholesterol medication cash cows, given that the patent ran out on Lipitor and it went generic.  They have started orchestrating a campaign to get children's cholesterol levels tested and then put most children on statins.  Presumably, their research will result in a slightly altered formula for the children's statin so it can be patented and sold for top $$$.

I don't think I am overly cynical nor a conspiracy theorist nutcase to believe that the problem of epidemic diabetes II, obesity and cardio-vascular disease has origin elsewhere than a lack of statins and cholesterol testing for children.

You're right, Donald.  "Disease mongering" (turning otherwise healthy people into patients) is a recognized problem is the medical field:
