Bicycle escalator for steep hills

Just added a few items to my bike facilities page:

First, a video of a bicycle escalator for steep hills.

We sure have some steep hills in Austin.  On the other hand, the thing goes only 3-4 mph.  I can walk that fast.

Next, there's an idea for a wind tunnel for cyclists, which lets them effortlessly pedal up to 25mph.  But it's never been built, and probably never will.

Finally, something that at least got city planners' attention before they declined to build it, was an elevated bike highway in London.

These are neat and I've read about them before.

But something that achieves all of these results is already available and vastly less expensive overall - the electric assisted bicycle.

I have been solar charging the one I built. Makes good sense here in hot sunny austin. Of course, even coal powered electricity will only be a few pennies per charge.
