Mexico City goes from worst to best transpo. city in 2 years

As recently as 2011, Mexico City ranked near the bottom on the commuting misery index.  Now just two years later, the government has enhanced the mobility of its residents so much that they got this year's Sustainable Transport award from ITDP.  They did it by:

* Focusing and public spaces and people, rather than on cars and driving.
* Installing the longest BRT (bus rapid transit) system in Latin AMerica.
* Adding 1200 bicycles and 90 stations to its Ecobici bike-sharing program.
* Reforming on-street parking.
* Improving sidewalks.
* Establishing new walkways.
* And my favorite, REMOVING CARS COMPLETELY FROM SOME STREETS!

Boy, would I love to see that here.

One of the runners-up was Bremen, Germany, where up to 60% of trips are made by cycling and walking.

Clearly our work is not done.
