I am an attorney in Austin. I have just been retained by and individual, female, whose husband finds it great sport to run cyclists off the road. She tells me of an incident in Summer/Fall 2007 where in her husband ran two cylists off the road into a fence. He then turned his truck so the rear wheels faced them as sprinkled (assaulted) them with gravel coming off his back wheels. This happened on Hamilton Pool Road. She can recall at least one other instance where similar things happened. I am trying to get details to use in her case. I am hoping these cyclists at least made a police report.
Thanks,

Let me guess ... there's a divorce brewing here?
There's a number of cycling organizations/groups/forums/mailing lists/etc in Austin. If somebody doesn't know any of the victims in this forum, we may have to dig up some others for you to ask ...

Oh the stereotypes. Yes there is a divorce. The bike stuff really has nothing to do with it. He already cracked a vertebrae in her neck. Let me guess there are people who are in danger because of this guy and I would love to see him stop doing it. There is really no property in the divorce she just wants her safety. I just thought a bonus would be to get someone off the streets who likes to run cyclists off the road. He lives on Hamilton Pool road want to cycle down it sometime?

I wish you the best in your search, may he go to jail for a long long time. And may a large man named bubba call him "honey".

I'm glad she has the good sense to divorce him and I hope and pray he has brains enough to pay attention to a restraining order.

Man, this sounds like deja vu. Anyone remember about 10 years ago the guy with the anger issue who ran Lance Armstrong off the road? And more specifically his domestic problems?

The woman who was involved with that man is either a relative or a friend of my mother in law. He is still in jail I believe.
The sad part is I think if it had been anyone but lance he would not have gotten in so much trouble for the incident on the road.

After reading Rick Kent's email about avoiding Hamilton Pool Road, I feel like something should be organized to protest against the people who do that. Put up signs. Have a massive ride down the road during high traffic hours. Seems like rather than avoiding it, there should be more cyclists to push all the buttons of tolerance. "We're here, deal with it." kind of thing.

He drives a forest green pickup and is the owner of a boat business on Hamilton Poole Road called Austin Action Marine. His name is Michael McDonald. I am filing today for a protective order against him and will secure a hearing date next week. While the rage toward cylists is an unnecessary part of the protective order I consider this sort of conduct so egredious that I have a duty to do all that I can to inform the cycling community about this. I have no compassion for this man and my goal is to make sure he cannot possess a gun after having a finding of family violence against him. If he contests the protective order I may get him to admit or deny that he has threatened cyclist on Hamilton Poole Road.

I just called Austin Action Marine to inquire about a better route to Hamilton Pool if I am traveling on my bicycle. The person who answered the phone had no idea of any other route that would get a bicyclist to Hamilton Pool.

LAWBOY,
While I agree with your pursuit so far as it is stated, I have to point out that as a lawyer, if you are indeed, you should be throughly familiar with defamation. Be careful of your language. Allegations are starkly different than asserted fact.
