In July, Bethany was the victim of a hit-and-run on her bike, while traveling in a bike lane on her way home on the east side. She suffered a concussion, and was unconscious for a few hours. Despite relatively quick physical healing, she experienced some residual memory loss; her response was to create a body of fine art that confronts the progressive cycles of trauma: deconstruction, confrontation, reconstruction, and ultimately redemption.

The sale of these pieces will help offset the medical costs associated with the accident. Bethany hopes to continue online sales of prints + related commissioned pieces after the event to raise ongoing funds for Please Be Kind to Cyclists's Victim Relief Fund. Founded in Austin, the fund enables provisions of medical support, travel expenses, and other assistance to cyclist victims and their families while advocating increased harmony and tolerance between drivers and cyclists.
