His name was Andrew Runciman and was only 24. Was a hit and run: "A preliminary investigation shows that the victim was riding his bicycle southbound on S. Lamar Blvd when a dark colored SUV, also traveling southbound, struck his bicycle and then left the scene. The victim is reported to have been traveling in the far right lane of S. Lamar Blvd."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-8164.

Andrew Runciman Memorial Ride and Ghost Bike Dedication

Organized by Keith Byrd of Social Cycling Austin:

Please join family, friends and members of the Austin cycling community on Saturday April 30th at 6:30pm on the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge over Lady Bird Lake for a memorial ride and ghost bike dedication in memory of Andrew Runciman, a cyclist who was killed in a hit and run incident in Austin, TX on the night of Saturday April 23rd.

We will meet at the bridge at 6:30pm and leave at 7pm for a memorial ride leading to a ghost bike dedication at 3506 S Lamar (in front of Red's Porch). The dedication will start when the ride arrives at around 7:30. After the ceremony we will continue the memorial ride that will end back at the bridge.
