10-10-10, A People Powered Pedal Party - October 10th, 2010 at 11:30am

Let's go for a bike ride together to celebrate 350.org's International Day of Action on Sunday, October 10th!! Our bike ride will be one of over 5000 events planned for this day all over the world!

Everyone is welcome to join this ride. We'll start out at the west mall on campus and take a leisurely ride to and around downtown to show support for the 350.org mission and to promote bicycling as an alternative to driving a car. We'll ultimately end up at the pedestrian bridge to meet up with Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, SEED Coalition, Public Citizens and UT's Campus Environmental Center. They are hosting a Rally Against Coal and will be meeting us on the pedestrian bridge to take a huge group photo to send to 350.org. If you are headed to ACL on Sunday, you can break off and head over to Zilker on your bike!

Bring: water, 350 signs, noise-makers, friends and a positive attitude! Feel free to dress in costumes and get as crazy as you want! This event is all about celebrating our power and having fun, so let's be safe, friendly & follow traffic rules.

I'm hoping to get at least 350 people out on their bikes for this event, so please invite all your friends and help to spread the word!!!

Here is some info on 350.org:

"350.org is an international grassroots campaign that aims to mobilize a global climate movement united by a common call to action. By spreading an understanding of the science and a shared vision for a fair policy, we will ensure that the world creates bold and equitable solutions to the climate crisis. 350.org is an independent and not-for-profit project.

What is 350? 350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Scientists measure carbon dioxide in "parts per million" (ppm), so 350ppm is the number humanity needs to get below as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change. To get there, we need a different kind of PPM-a "people powered movement" that is made of people like you in every corner of the planet."
