Who can vote in the election?

Per the LOBV bylaws, voting in board elections is limited to those who have both 1) a current paid LOBV membership, and 2) Have attended a previous LOBV membership meeting. To facilitate broader participation in elections, the LOBV Board granted to right to vote for all LOBV members with current memberships as of 9/30/10. If you have any questions about your status, please contact us at membership@lobv.org.

Please note that if you were not a current member as of 9/30/10, i.e. if you join or renew your membership in October, then you can still qualify to vote in this year's LOBV election by attending the Pre-Election Membership Meeting on Sunday, October 17th.
How will voting be conducted?

Board Candidate Info

Lane Wimberley (incumbent)

While happy with the success the LOBV has enjoyed, Lane believes the LOBV is at a point of transition and maturation. Having assumed the board presidency only recently, Lane's commitment to the LOBV has shifted accordingly from advocacy to building and strengthening the organization from within.

Jonathan Horak (incumbent)

Jonathan started commuting by bike on one of Austin's hottest days in the summer of 2004 and has served on the LOBV board of directors since 2006. He previously served as an alternate member on the Bicycle Advisory Council. Outside of cycling advocacy, Jonathan cares deeply for the causes of pedestrian mobility and improved public transportation access for all.

Austin McDaniel (incumbent)

Austin is a recent LOBV board member. An active cyclist since his arrival in Austin in 2000, his experience as a pedicab chauffeur and ride leader has sparked an interest in advocacy. He is eager to continue as a board member, and is committed to the LOBV's vision of more people riding bikes more often.

Patricia Schaub

Patricia Schaub owns Gentle Thursday Pedicabs, and is a Graduate Program Coordinator for the University of Texas at Austin. She has lived and cycled in Austin since 1995. She bicycles for most of her daily transportation, and is a triathlete who has trained with Rogue Running and Texas Iron, and is a repeat finisher of the MS 150, the Rosedale Ride, and Ironman Wisconsin and Lake Placid.

Leslie Luciano

Leslie is the Director of Advocacy at Austin's Bicycle Sports Shop, and is a member of many other bicycling organizations at levels ranging from local to national. Having worked hard helping to get the state safe passing bill through the legislature only to have it vetoed by Gov. Rick Perry, Leslie well knows the kind of dedication advocacy requires. Leslie works hard to bring together the disparate subcultures in Austin's cycling community. She is also facilitating the implementation of Boltage—an innovative program to get kids to bike to school.

Jason Fialkoff

Jason believes that his experience working in the City of Austin's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program combined with his background and education as a civil engineer make him a unique candidate who is well suited for a position on the LOBV's board of directors.

Mary Krenek

Mary is a lifelong Austinite and cyclist. She is a single mom, professional retention pond installer, part-time poet, manager of Speechzone Promotions, and she leads seminars on how people can represent themselves in court. Mary is a strong advocate of individual empowerment and will work to champion justice for cyclists as a member of the LOBV board of directors.
