City Council vote on Bike Plan, June 11th

So, does anyone know how this will work?  Last time, everyone showed up and spoke, but no vote.  This time they will vote, but I don't see anyone pushing attendance like last time.  Will there be speakers, or is this just to be voted on?  If there are speakers allowed, and the bike community isn't pushing attendance, I fear the majority attending will be opponents to the plan.

I got word that there will be opponents lined up and they will be signing up to speak, and/or to support or not.  Please check my blog regarding this www.bicyclesportshop.wordpress.com  Yellow Bike has some info on their newsletter www.yellowbike.org

Re: City Council vote on Bike Plan, June 11th

Interested parties can come to City Hall tomorrow (June 11th) at 6 PM to
speak on the Bicycle Master Plan.  If you already spoke, or signed up in
favor, you don't need to come again or sign up again because it is
technically the same "public hearing."  But, if you missed the
opportunity last time and want to be heard, please feel free to do so.  Those of you that were there last time may remember the importance of organizing a few speakers and donating time.

Re: City Council vote on Bike Plan, June 11th

Looks like the plan was approved by a vote of 6-0.  99 people signed in as for, 19 against.  There were several speakers speaking against the bridge planned in Heritage Hills, due to the link to a high crime area.  The official minutes and video of the meeting aren't yet available, but they have posted an unofficial transcript of the closed-caption for the video.  It's the last agenda item, so scroll towards the bottom.  Some interesting discussion regarding the bridge.
