NYC increases sidewalk width by removing one car lane

This could actually move more people per hour.  The average speed of a car in midtown Manhattan is only 4.7 mph, and a lot more peds (at ~3mph) can fit on a sidewalk than drivers+passengers in a lane of traffic.
