e-bike boom?

https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industr … zhiwEl7nbg

At least 2 of my neighbors have bought e-bikes recently plus I've seen several on the sidewalks (e-scooters too).     From what I've seen here teens are using them as alternative to a car, I assume the parents save money on insurance this way.

We also have an e-bike that we bought a few years back (36V pedal assist) and when I'm just running errands around town it is pretty nice ot have in the summer.

Anyone else notice or have participated in this trend?

Re: e-bike boom?

I'm not going out enough to notice, but it's believable.  I used to think that e-Bikes were kind of cheating, but:

(1) man, once you try one, it's hard to go back, and

(2) crunching the numbers, I found that eBikes uses less energy even without any pedaling, than a traditional bike uses, once you count the energy needed to make the food.
