The Lottery [5y.o. Uriel Garcia killed while crossing street, 5/13/16]

Forty years ago, when I was in high school, we had to read 'The Lottery' by Shirley Jackson.  I found it to be very disturbing and did not like it at all.  I questioned why we had to read such an awful story. 

Now I'm glad we did.  It helped prepare me to live in a car culture.

But don't worry, let's all just keep driving those cars, even for the most trivial trip.  After all, the odds aren't that bad for any one individual.
