looking to add a few inches of rise to an old mountain bike, anyone know a good place locally or if these might be easy to find at YBP? looking for riser bars about 1/3 to 1/2 of what a BMX has that could be spalpped on an old diamondback MTB without changing the cables without spending  a bunch...also does YBP typically have 26" fenders?

i ended up going the route of a cheap old cro-mo mountain bike, got replacement tires and just need to replace the plastic pedals eventually and probably remove the bar ends and put some real grips instead of the electric tape custom job on there now...Once i get into the swing of things and get to where im riding more  (and can handle hills a little better)then ill invest in a better bike like a kona worldbike

speaking of the security issue, how hard is it to convert a quick release wheel and seatpost to something harder to steal... ive got a cheap bike with a crap seat but Ive had my seat stolen before and figure it was out of sheer boredome and was probably tossed to the roadside within a few thousand feet

in a sideways manner i understand the original posters irritation and agree that there are some bike riders and motorcycle riders that are horrible, discourteous and unsafe, but this is much more true of cars since an auto screwing around on the road such as some kids "swanging-going across all lanes of traffic back and forth like a drunk" has the potential for multiple fatalities including themselves and others while a cyclist is more likely to kill themselves only if theyre weaving or running lights.
Ideally if traffic laws were followed and cars respected cyclists and vice versa there would not be an issue like the poster speaks of

i think that was someone being cheeky, there was an ad the same day someone posted to lookout for their stolen bike

wow...a family member of mine lives in indonesia where the HOV lanes require 3 people in your car. You can pay a local $2 and theyll hop in the car with you so you can use the HOV

ill agree with that, i will caution you if youre used to riding flat the ride going to the mall on barton springs is a climb not too steep but long...once youre on the mopac feeder theres up and down hills either way...bikes all over the place
