I usually carry a lot of stuff with me. I can't go out of the house without cell phone, netbook, a bottle of water, additional clothes like hat or jacket. Recently I got myself a fine notebook case that could hold lot of other things like phone, MP3 player and similar devices. The reason for it was the protection issue, I was afraid that the notebook could get damaged if I carry it in my usual bike bag.

That's cheap - did you buy it? Just curious if someone bought it and could tell us if it was worth the price. If it really was brand new it should have been sold soon.

Yes, unfortunately the cable locks aren't any problem for professional thieves. They can open them in seconds and so it's very difficult to prevent them the bike from being stolen. A friend of mine had his bike locked with an U-turn stolen a few months ago, even the U-turn didn't help in this case, although I have to say the bike was stolen at night.

That's good news. Places like Times Square should be car-free anywhere, there are still too many squares and streets that allow cars and this leads to nothing else but daily traffic jams. This places should be exclusively for pedestrians.
