The help referenced here relates to my offer to give Mr. Dahmus occasional spots on
the Right of Way Radio Show on 91.7 FM, KOOP, a transportation issues show, which I
do every other Monday night.

Since he has discreetly bowed out, I am looking for people with some articulated
points of view and a willingness to help me find guests for the show and interview
them. I have posted on this list looking for guests before (and anyone interested
is still welcome to contact me about being a guest), but I am particularly looking
for some more regular help in finding guests and interviewing them. I can show up
and run the board and do the paperwork, but I need content for the show.

It is perfectly fine (preferable, in fact) that the helper have differing points of
views from me or anyone else doing the show currently (those being Roger Baker and
Dick Kallerman). There is enough variety in views about alternative transportation,
and personally I find the opinions of those who agree with me to be less
interesting than the opinions of those who do not. Heck, I would invite Gerald
Dougherty if I knew he was not already too busy.

But this brings up one important and rather non-negotiable point. A difference in
opinion needs to be taken as a good thing and should be handled maturely. I know
that a hurly-burly of screaming, sneering, and flaming is popular with some
audiences, both on the radio and in online lists like this one, and that some folks
have generated some popularity with such antics, but it is not what I want for the
ROW show. Maybe this comes off as snobbish, but I am stuck with it. My views on
transportation are more way out than most, so I am little bothered by the majority
of my colleagues who disagree with me, but I regard these views on behavior in a
public forum to be normal and worth defending. Guests can sneer, but the hosts have
to be hosts.

If anyone would like to be a part-part-time transportation DJ, do let me know.
Outgoing people who make contact with other transportation activist types are
particularly valuable. (I am not an outgoing type, and I tend to avoid political
meetings when I can.)
