Name of product: Brake Inner Cables for adult bikes with drop style handlebars
(road racing bicycles) - Part#Y80098300/Z80098300, and double end brake cables
Y80098110/Z80098110 and Y80098400/Z80098400 (10-pack). 

Potential Hazard: The road cable end could detach from the cable during
braking, possibly causing the rider to losecontrol and fall.

Description: Part #Y80098400/Z80098400 is a dual ended brake cable (road end
and ATB end on same cable)packaged in quantities of 10 pcs of 1.6mm x 1700mm
cable. Individual packages will have Part #Y80098110/Z80098110. 
  
Part #Y80098300/Z80098300 is packaged only with 1 piece of 1.6mm x 1700mm road
cable. 

All affected cables are those that are new and unused or in use on a road-type
lever and do not have a production code. Cables installed on mountain bikes,
bmx bikes or flat handlebar bikes are not affected. 

Sold at: Affected cables were sold to North American distributors and dealers
as after market parts. 

Affected Period: They were produced from April of 2003 until March of 2004. 

REMEDY / CONTACT: Stop riding the potentially affected bicycle immediately and
take it to a local bicycle shop for verification.You may also contact Shimano

being conducted in conjunction with the United States Consumer Product Safety
Commission, which is monitoring the recall effort for effectiveness.
