So let's.

I have noticed that portions of Guadalupe north of campus have an enormous 
turning lane in the center and average size curb lanes.  It seems to me that 
restriping Guadalupe so that it had a reasonable turn lane and wide curb 
lanes would benefit cyclist safety and comfort and provide autos with more 
space for passing cyclists and stopped buses.

So, what are the standards used for determining the width of turn lanes?  
When are wide curb lanes appropriate?
