BIKE: another commuting question (North Loop to the Capitol)

Instead of San J, which involves a hill that's too
steep for 7:30 am, how about the following completely
illegal route: through the parking lot by the student
health center (if it's still where it way way back
when I was a student), over to the UGL, through the
West Mall, Main Mall, South Mall & down the hill to
the sidewalks behind the UTC, Education building, etc.
This would put me at the light at Speedway & MLK.
This is a route that would have worked when I was in
school a milion years ago, but I know campus has
changed in the intervening years. Is this way at all
feasable? Or should I just sigh heavily & ride on San
Jacinto?
thanks for the suggestions!
