BIKE: Bicycling in Phoenix/Scottsdale?

 Hello,  Does anyone know what the bicycling is like in the Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ area?  I'm going there for work this weekend, and want to rent a bike to get around, but I'm not sure how rideable those cities are.  I did find that the Phoenix buses have bike racks, which is a plus, but want to find out more about the actual riding.  Any info (or suggestions on shops to rent from) is welcome.
