Stuart,
Thanks so much for working on this. I hope more folks will follow
your example of grass-roots cycling initiative and advocacy.
While we're on the topic of needed improvements, maintenance, etc. it
just occurred to me this morning that the west-bound bike lane on
Woodward just west of I-35 is obscured with overgrow vegetation,
forcing cyclists nearly into, or into, the west-bound traffic lane,
which at times is pretty hairy. (The bike lane is also somewhat
strewn with debris there.)
Matters are made more dangerous there by fast-moving traffic veering
right to get around folks trying to turn left. This is a recipe for
disaster, as a cyclist to the left of a bike lane stands a chance of
being obscured from the view of the overtaking vehicle as they
effectively use the bike lane as a passing lane. Sure, it may not be
legal, but that isn't going to matter one bit to the cyclist who gets
hit.
I realize this isn't what Stuart is looking for. I'm mentioning it
mainly for someone on the list who might be able to do something about
it.
Elvis, where are you?!
Thanks all.
