(1) such a facility would also invite pedestrians to walk it (as I've seen
here in Austin), making cycling dangerous for the cyclists and pedestrians as
well. I do note that the facilities are planned to be "located within

To clarify--when I called the transportation dept., I was told that these
bikeways are intended to accomodate bike and foot traffic. He said that it
was not a sidewalk, though. I hope someone sends me the plan soon. It
sounds like a sidewalk to me.

I'm feeling really antsy thinking that this plan is evidently underway (I
know the off-road trails are being built, which is fine with me, but I have
not seen any construction of road facilities--none are planned in my area
anyway). I wonder if this bike plan was put together without public (or
expert?) input. Hate to sound ignorant--but I am. This is the first time
I've looked into city planning policies.

We alrady have enough asphalt for everyone; the best thing for Round Rock
would really be a serious attitude adjustment--but that would be way too
economical, wouldn't it?
