In looking at the last bit of the route on mapquest, it looks like
W. Cowpath is maddeningly close to connecting to Huntsville Dr. I
wonder if you could make it across somehow. If so, then you could
utilize all the neighborhood streets around The Quaries Park, crossing
over to there from Jollyville on Balcones Woods Dr. (Not sure what
that section is like, though.)

>From where you live up to Jollyville shouldn't be too hard. Get over
to Shoal Creek Blvd and head north to Steck. Go west on Steck to
Mesa and follow Mesa north to old Jollyville. The only really sucky
part is where you have to navigate a gravelly, muddy field for about
1/10th mile (less?) to get to the intersection of 360 and 183. If on
MTB, it's not that bad, but if on road or touring bike, you might opt
to walk or carry the bike through there.

Cross 360 with the pedestrian crossing signal. The bit on the other
side of the intersection can be a little tricky, since you're going
counter to the south-east-bound traffic exiting 183. You can either
wait for a break, or hop up on the curb (no sidewalk). This area is a
good example of what Mike Dahmus rightly complains about as being very
hostile to bikers (and pedestrians), and in dire need of more
attention from the City.

Once across, meander around the Arboretum area to where you can pick
up Jollyville on the opposite side. Then, off you go ...
