The first week of operation of the Las Vegas Monorail has passed with 
few glitches and many riders. The new transportation system drew 30,500 
passengers on its first day of operation, surpassing management 
expectations, though falling short of the 40,000-per-day paying riders 
the system needs to break even (system capacity is 96,000 passengers
