Fellow Cycling/Pedestrian Advocates:

I have some good news regarding the Travis Hts. Neighborhood Traffic Calming
Plan (NTCP) which was approved by neighborhood residents in 12/2001. For
those unfamiliar with the neighborhood, this area in S. Austin is bordered
by Riverside Dr., I-35, Oltorf, and S. Congress.

At the present time, most of the plan, which completely utilizes speed
cushions, has been implemented. There are now speed cushions on the
following neighborhood roadways: Travis Hts. Blvd, E. Live Oak, Alta Vista,
Eastside Dr, E. Monroe, Kenwood Dr., Glendale Pl., and Rebel.

I will contact Richard Kroger regarding the status of planned cushions for
Algarita -- I believe this is the last roadway in the plan still unaccounted
for.

My thanks to Richard Kroger (COA Transportation Staff -- S. Austin region),
to my fellow members of the Travis Hts. NTCP Working Group who worked hard
to develop and lobby the final plan, to the SRCC Neighborhood Assoc., and to
all the residents of the Travis Hts. neighborhood who voted to approve the
plan with 60+% approval, and who have endured years of excessive speeding by
neighborhood and cut-through traffic.
