Austin pedestrian crashes affect more minority, low-income communities

A city report covering 2010-15 found 1900 pedestrians involved in crashes, and that certain demographic groups are affected disproportionately.

Other findings include:

* 64% of ped fatalities happen on roads with a speed limit of 45+.
* Serious injury or death is twice as likely on streets without sidewalks on both sides
* Street lighting reduces the chances of a ped collision by ~8%.
