Ride of Silence: May 17th, 2017, 6:30pm, Pfluger Ped Bridge

On May 17, 2017 at 7:00 PM, the Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll across the globe. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.

We will meet on the Pfluger (Lamar) Street Pedestrian Bridge at 6:30pm and start rolling at 7pm. You can see the entire route here http://www.strava.com/routes/2138595. We will be providing ribbons. We will try our best to stay in a group and will regroup at the Texas State Capitol. We will have a ride leader and two ride marshals.

The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride.

Riders often wear black armbands to recognize a cyclist that has been killed and/or a red armband for a cyclist that has been injured sharing the road.

There are no sponsors and no registration fees

(And if you're in North Austin, you may want to attend the North Austin ride instead.  It's described in its own thread.)
