The City Council recently approved a plan to spend a lot of money to build new sidewalks and improve existing ones. The article seems to open by saying it's $400 million over ten years, but then suggests the number could be much lower.
There are 2400 miles of existing sidewalks, and 2600 miles of missing ones. Of the existing sidewalks, 85% are functionally deficient, with severe cracks or obstructions that make them noncompliant with ADA requirements.
Of course, Zimmerman was the lone vote against it. Freedom!
