A cyclist was taken to the hospital Sunday morning with critical injuries after colliding with a vehicle in South Austin, officials said.
Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the crash at 4600 South First Street at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was taken by medics to St. David South Austin Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, EMS said.
The LIVESTRONG Foundation confirmed later that one of its cyclists, registered in the 20-mile ride, had suffered a heart attack Sunday morning and collapsed into a parked vehicle on South First Street....

AUSTIN, Texas — A cyclist suffered critical, life-threatening injuries in a crash with a vehicle Sunday morning.
It happened in the 4600 block of South 1st Street at about 9:30 a.m....

The Statesman article first grabbed my attention because the incident occurred about 1/2 mile from our home. Interesting to note that neither article says where the car was parked on S 1st St. One article says collapsed and the other says collided. Statesman described as life threatening injuries from a collapse into car. CBS just says transported to S Austin hospital after colliding. Not at all clear on what really happened. A bit typical with mainstream media, particularly around bicycle collisions and rider injuries sustained.
