Redd Street (Manchaca Road-Mt Vernon Drive) Bicycle Lanes Notification

At last night's BAC meeting, city staff presented a proposal to extend the bicycle lanes to Mt. Vernon and St. Elmo, tying into the existing facilities east of South 1st and to the coming facilities on Redd. Plans are also in the works to extend the bicycle facilities westward to Central Market, the coming CapMetro transit substation, and WestGate. This plan helps to insure a safe and inviting, all ages, all ability network for our people to confidently use our streets in the neighborhood.

We need to continue to advocate and request connected, complete SIDEWALKS on Redd and to request and advocate for traffic calming via roundabouts and art installations to manage the speed and volume of cut through traffic paralleling Ben White on Mt. Vernon, Redd, and Western Trails.

Please attend the meeting this Thursday, January 22nd, 2015, at Joslin Elementary from 6pm-7pm to show your support for this project. So important if you have or know children attending Joslin or St. Elmo elementary schools.

Edit: No bike lanes planned on Mt. Vernon. Roundabout at Mt. Vernon and Redd was suggested again during the meeting.
