Hats off to you for attempting to read "Effective Cycling." If you bog down with that, I highly recommend Robert Hurst's "The Art of Urban Cycling." While this book has a few imperfections, I think it is the best book on the subject since EC, and it does a much better job of impressing some of the counter-intuitive features of safe cycling without being so
obnoxious. Really, it is the best book to come out on this complicated subject.
