5 mph crash kills veteran speed lover
By John Leptich, Tribune

Ron Huber relished life in the fast lane. The
Scottsdale resident, a pioneer in the time management
and day-planner industry, had a childhood passion for
auto racing. It became the center of his life when he
retired 10 years ago.

Huber raced vintage cars and won several NASCAR stock
races. He drove at Phoenix International Raceway. He
competed in races at Road America in Elkhart Lake,
Wis., Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International Raceway,
Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Road Atlanta
in Braselton, Ga.

On Oct. 28 at the Superkarts! USA nationals go-kart
race in Las Vegas, Huber fell from a twowheeled,
electric Segway Human Transporter when it flipped as
he was driving into the pit area at 5 mph. He died the
next day.
