BIKE: Vote NO for Commuter Rail [bike and RwT accommodations]

I had a chance to pester 10+ fellow cyslists on the "Ride for the Roses"
regarding their opinions on the Cap Metro's rail plans.  I didn't find a
single supporter.  I was kinda shocked that most of the people I raised the
issue with stated that they had done some reading/research on the plan.  I
wanted to have a good debate with a Pro-rail person, but it was kinda
disappointing that I couldn't at least try to change someones opinion.
Several riders stated that they thought the Pro-rail flyers being delivered
to their residense as propaganda and a waste of money.
In many of their musings they stated that Austin if won't support cycling as
valid transportation, then how can they support other means of mass
transportation!

Several of the people I asked, stated that it wouldn't pass because this is
"Texas"  and part of our chosen "life style" to be spread out and have
independence in transportation (large SUVs)

I was amased that some of the people I spoke with stated flat out that it
would fail to pass.
