That explains a lot.  When I moved here last Spring I wondered how all 
of the young drivers could be so ignorant about such things as 
maintaining a safe following distance.  Apparently I am one of the few 
people in this town that has even heard of the "Two Second Rule".  At 
work we are all required to take a defensive driving class.  It 
recommends a minimum following distance of 3 seconds.
It seems to me that an ounce of prevention... driver's ed is cheap 
compared to smashed cars and bodies.
