BIKE: bikes against the world

So far as I can tell, TxDOT's policy towards bikes is that of total neglect.
I heard someone say that a bicycle advocate with TxDOT was responsible for
pushing through wide shoulders on FM 2770, past Buda towards CR 150. If so,
that may be the only such case I know of.
Roger, I agree with you that TxDOT does not provide shoulders for bikes. I
believe wide shoulders on TxDOT roads are there as breakdown lanes or for
future expansion. Examples of such expansion are the removal of shoulders
on FM 1431 between Round Rock and Cedar Park for center turn lanes, and
appropriation of the shoulders on Parmer Lane between IH-35 and FM 1431 for
use as left turn lanes.
