BIKE: Fw: Central Market bike racks

I was all prepared to go off on a rant for my Cycling News column and on the
editor's orders did something I've never done before. I called the HEB
public affairs regional office and played phone tag for about 15 minutes to
get a definitive answer.

I just now (5:05 PM on Friday, 19 Nov 2004) received a callback from a Mr.
Chuck Estes of Central Market who told me that he'd been made aware of some
recent email traffic on the subject. He told me that the bike rack was
removed for a recent gala event that occurred recently and that the rack was
mistakenly not reinstalled. He also told me that they had just recovered the
racks from the clutter out behind the store and that racks would be
reinstalled up front, right where they were by the gong, very soon indeed.

Rat's! Now I've got to think of something else to write about.

Perhaps someone can quantify who exactly was the source of the comment that
included the nugget that CM did not intend to reinstall the bike rack. I'd
appreciate it.
