BIKE: Riding in Houston

Just wanted to get anyone's feedback on getting around Houston by bike.  I'll be there Sunday and will have some time to kill so thought exploring by bike might be fun.  I've only been to Houston twice, but bizarrely (despite what I've heard to the contrary) always found it easy to get around by bus or car, at least on the weekends (never been there on a weekday).  Wanted to see if what I thought is actually true or if there is too much traffic and crazy drivers (I have seen the homemade exit ramps off the highways which is kind of a scary concept).  I'll also be doing some of my riding at night, so not sure if that makes a difference.

Anyway, any feedback (or suggestions on fun places to go and see by bike) is welcome!
