This gets into the whole "cyclists' rights" vs. "bicycle facilities" debate,
which I'll try not to get baited into, but FYI, everyone, have a look at the
pages at www.labreform.org regarding what is good for cycling vs. good for
getting grant money to make things worse for cycling in the name of cycling
facilities.

We have had some great discussions with Capital Metro regarding the
construction of trails along the commuter rail rights-of-way as described in
our 1996 vision: http://www.austintrails.org/vision/index.html In addition
to enhancing our regional network of bikeways, these trails will provide
access to stations along the commuter rail lines.

CapMetro is hosting a workshop from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Thu, 6/10, at the
Convention Center. We need to have a good turnout of cyclists and
alternative transportation advocates at this workshop.
