The previous message escaped into the wild prior to completion due to
hurried typing. I was saying,

I happened to obtain a copy of this petition from an anonymous source,
and it looked something like this:

Bob Snerd 2525 Rosewood Ave (illegible scrawl for
signature)
Frieda Snerd 2525 Rosewood Ave (illegible scrawl for signature)
Joe Snerd 2525 Rosewood Ave (illegible scrawl for
signature)
Betty-Sue Snerd 2525 Rosewood Ave (illegible scrawl for
signature)
Spot Snerd 2525 Rosewood Ave (illegible scrawl for signature)
Baby Snerd 2525 Rosewood Ave (illegible scrawl for signature)
The Snerds Grandma 1911 Wood St., Tyler (illegible scrawl for
signature)

with all the signatures in the same hand-writing. followed by another
block of signatures in roughly the same format. And again, I'm not
making this up. I didn't every page of the petition, but the pages I
looked at were at this level of validity. I'm fairly certain that this
is the usual case of 4 or 5 households of bullies insisting that the
city revolves around them.

"Although bicyclists have supported a paved bike path in the Rosewood
area, it shouldn't be done at the expense of the neighborhood, said Dave
Westenbarger, a bikeway organizer."

Dave, WTF? Why are we constantly cratering to a handful of jerks? I
can state with absolute certainty that if I lived in Rosewood, a paved
bicycle trail would add to rather than detract from my quality of life.
We shouldn't even be allowing them to assert that they have a valid
petition, let alone a reasonable point of view. A paved bike path is
not at the expense of the neighborhood! There very idea is completely
absurd, and only in Austin would it be given even 2 seconds of attention.
