BIKE: Bike rack bags

I'll second the Jandd vote. Unless you're hauling bushels of sharp,
pointy ice axes or crampons, they are damned durable. I've hauled
many pounds of cargo (including a weeks-worth of groceries, and a
12-pack of beer) in my Jandd, and it's lasted me for five years (so
far). I bought the commuter bag, which is slightly larger (and more
expensive) than the regular bags. They are very versatile, in
addition to being durable and spacious.
I think I paid somewhere around $75 or $80 for my bag...? Might seem
a little expensive at first, but considering the reliability and the
use I've gotten out of it, it's really quite a deal.
The only problem I've ever found with any Jandd products is the hard
plastic sheet that they use to stiffen many of their bag products.
Under heavy use (especially bending), they tend to break, especially
along natural stress concentration points, like bolt holes, etc. This
hasn't happened to my commuter bag's plastic, but it did happen to my
handlebar bag. Doesn't render the bag useless by any means, but it
gets a little floppy. Very easily fixable with a stiff member (minds
out of the gutter now; I'm talking about a piece or steel ... or wood
... oh, you know what I'm talking about) and duct tape. Still a very
recommendable product.
As always, your mileage may vary!
