I haven't visited lately, so I wanted to update y'all on things in the
North Suburban Jungle of Round Rock. Say hello to the newest chapter of the
ACA. Some immediate goals are to make sure that local cyclists have access
to regularly scheduled Road 1 classes, to create a "presence" in the
community, to educate driverrs, to educate parents on teaching their
children proper bike safety, and (my favorite) to give the city and county
officials what-for for creating that insipid off-road city bike plan. And I
mean that in the most caring way possible.

We are creating a new ACA "mini" ride on each first Thursday of each month,
when the Chamber of Commerce is holding its street festival, the Pedestrian
Stroll, on Main Street. The ad, which will appear in the Southwest Cycling
News, follows:

"Bike to First Thursday: Round Rock
First Thursday runs from 5pm to 9pm and occurs on E. Main just to the east
of Mays. Cyclists that are coming just to ride should meet at the Movies 8
at 3406 and IH-35 for a 6:30 start and leisurely 2 mile ride down Mays to
Main. Make sure to bring a lock and lights as we may be riding home in the
dark."

I intend to stay on top of the lobbying myself, along with a number of
other volunteers dedicated to ensuring that biking remains a viable option
for local transportation. If you want more news about the new chapter or
want to take Road 1 in Round Rock, please feel free to email me.

Thanks,
Amy
