NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

AND

AFFORDING AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A PUBLIC HEARING




The Austin District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT-AUS) will conduct a public meeting on Monday, July 12, 2004.  The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held in the Hancock Building of the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), 3700 Lake Austin Blvd., Austin, Texas.  The purpose of the meeting is to provide information regarding transportation projects and programs that might affect bicycle use of the state system within the Austin District.  The Austin District is made up of Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Gillespie, Hays, Mason, Lee, Llano, Travis, and Williamson Counties.




The meeting will consist of an open house from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., presentations by TxDOT staff beginning at 6:30 p.m., a brief recess followed by public comment, and an opportunity for dialogue until 8:30 p.m.  Maps and other drawings showing the existing state system, data from last year's bicycle meeting, and upcoming projects on the state system will be displayed.  The public will be asked to provide input on their current bicycle commuting and recreational use of the existing state system.

 

All interested citizens are invited to attend this public meeting.  Verbal and written comments from the public regarding bicycle use of the state system in the Austin District are requested.  Comments may be presented either at the meeting or in writing within 15 days after the public meeting (post marked on or before Monday, July 26, 2004).  Written comments not turned in at the meeting should be mailed to Ms. Jenny Peterman, Austin District Bicycle Coordinator (Planning), Texas Department of Transportation, P.O. Drawer 15426 NEAS, Austin, Texas, 78761.




Any interested citizen may request that this meeting be formalized into a public hearing by submitting a written request to Ms. Jenny Peterman, at the above mentioned address, on/or before July 1, 2004.  In the event such request is received, the public meeting to be held July 12, 2004, will be conducted as a formal public hearing.
