I hesitate to post this because I know Nawdry's gonna jump all over it
and say that the fact that a brand-new system had some glitches when it
opened is evidence that monorail technology is untenable and inferior,
but whatever.

 From the Las Vegas Advisor:

Monorail Back in Action

After a 107-day shutdown, the Las Vegas Strip Monorail reopened on
Christmas Eve. No ticket fees were charged for the first five days
following the reintroduction of service, which led to record ridership
on Christmas Day. The monorail is expected to face a big test on New
Year's Eve, when 300,000 people are expected to jam the Strip. A few
days later, it will shuttle many of the 150,000-200,000 conventioneers
predicted for the Consumer Electronics Show. The ticket structure will
remain the same as before the closure: $3 per ride, with one-day passes
available for $10.
