BIKE: Dell bike commuters?

Hi, guys--

I had a very exciting/exhausting evening speaking to the mayor and the head
of Parks and Rec, and then, at a separate meeting, to the other newly
appointed mayor's fitness council members. Drinks at Main Street Bar and
Grille in between meetings (highly recommended). My main goal with the
mayor was to extract a promise for meetings to revisit the so-called bike
plan (they didn't even dispute that the trails plan is not for
transportation). We got it. There is still time for negotiation. I also
have contacts for potentially hudreds of cyclists in the area. I'm very
excited at how things have come together so nicely recently. We really have
something going on here.

(The mayor is afraid that we will train cyclists to ride properly in the
lane and someone will get killed. I am afraid that the cyclists who hug the
curb going in the wrong direction at night without lights or helmet (like
the one I could have easily killed on the way home) will be killed if we do
not train adults to ride properly in the lane. I have no idea how someone
hasn't been killed already, what with all the bad riding I see every single
day on 620 and I-35.)

I know I'm being vague. I am really too tired to report more than that I
daresay I have officially become a force to be reckoned with.

AND--the real subject of the message---
I am looking for Dell (or other Round Rock-based companies) employees who
bike to work. I had gotten an email from someone named Chuck but lost the
address. If you're out there, Chuck, please contact me. I want to start
talking to those who commute from Austin.

Also, I set up a Web site (under construction) at
geocities.com/cycle_roundrock.

Amy
